Sweetest Place on Earth

Although Jinja is the Adventure Capital of East Africa (with Busoga delights like Source of the Nile, Kakira Sugar Works molasses, Agriculture Show, namungodi, etc); Mukono is peaceful like King Solomon's gardens; Kampala City got KLA-ss and pedigree (tasty like Rollex fast-food, Britania Munchies biscuits and Arabian dates); Soroti has very friendly people; Lira is solemn like Obote, Cecilia Ogwal and Akii-Bua; Gulu is up or heavenly; Mbale is yuge like the moon; Kasese and Fort Portal are Rwenzori-stic; while Mbarara spells milk, honey plus Ugandan juice, Arua (West Nile) is the Sweetest Place since 1914. Like a ripe red-orange mango in the 5th month (Summer) or 12th (Winter), maize porridge mixed with groundnut paste and sugar or yellow potatoes, Arua is supersweet like Fanta, oh; fruity like Mirinda; more than what I expected. Churches (Places of worship like Emmanuel Cathedral in Mvara), fresh-green lawns outside the driest months (December to February), waterfalls, West Nile architecture, Lugbara food, wildlife like at Ajai Reserve, farms, weddings, Duluka (as well as Agwara, Gaze, Koro, Nambi, Walanga Courtship, Guke, Luru, Naito drum - Mare trumpet funeral, Adungu and Ndara dances) plus electronic musicfests, beautiful butterflies, various bird species from as far as Israel singing different songs (eg Akanyonyi akalugwara) and the bright yellow Sun light up the Arua sky many times with zero apologies. The refreshing morning breeze after a night of heavy rain during the December dry spell sometimes reminds me of the old West Nile of the 2000s because of the scent of the wet soil and air. For 16 years of my early life, I didn't have any desire to visit Arua. However, since the world did not end as highly anticipated at midnight on New Year's Day Y2K, I decided to make a pilgrimage to Arua using Nile Coach alongside my Mama and sister Christine between 1st and 6th February before starting Senior 4 in Mpigi. After that discovery journey, I returned every year until December 2013; this is My Arua Story. Arua is more than just a city, district or City-state; it's a spirit of unchained freedom: Free your imagination from incarceration! Arua Town got its name from the Hill nearest to the main government, health, business and sports centres; it was named Arua because of a Belgian colonialist prison on top of or near it; "Aru-a" in Lugbara language means "in prison", but the prison is no longer there. It's more like a humane prison where you choose whether to lock yourself in an imaginary cell or roam as freely as a sparrow. All you will find on Arua Hill is a rock, telecommunication masts, satellites, media stations, National Water reservoir, Hilltop Hotel and some homes adjacent to Barifa Forest, churches, schools and a 20,000-seater stadium in the northwest. The first town plan of Arua was drawn for the imperialists by a British Colonial Administrator and Surveyor called Arthur E(velyn) Weatherhead (1880-1956) who has a ring-road around the golf course named after him (Weatherhead Park Lane). As centuries pass, Arua might have developed into a metropolis from Madi Okollo up to Koboko and Rhino Camp plus Madi Moyo and Adjumani, but divisive politics, greed and tribal clanism broke it up into so many smaller chunks (Yumbe, Maracha which rocks my world, Terego, Vurra and Ayivu). Nevertheless, it still possesses its aura as the Capital of West Nile, Lugbara Kari and the ancient pan-African Lado Empire. Arua is cosmopolitan (doesn't only host Lugbara who officially include the Aringa Clan though some want to be known as a tribe, Kebu, Lendu, Nubi, Madi, Kakwa and Alur but also many other non-West Nile tribes and foreign nationalities too). Arua Business City is like the Salia Musala of Africa linking East to Central and West Africa plus North to South Africa; Arua Airport lies in a community halfway between Cairo and Cape Town. WENRECo powered the city since around 2003 (probably UEB before and Electromaxx and Umeme after) but there is still room for alternative energy. What is sweeter than honey? Sweeter honey, juice and The Bible. Did you say this mango is not sweet? I hope you do not have Coronavirus-19 flu...

Voice Of Life (Arua) is the Oldest FM Radio Station in West Nile and first aired on 27th November 1997; it came five years after the first two in Kampala and has weathered very many storms. VOL, with the slogan "O'duko mini icozu asi'bazu driniara ri [The Voice you can trust]", plays exclusively Church-oriented music on 100.9 MHz. Founded by Canon Isaac Anguyo (Here Is Life), it has hosted thousands and thousands of people from evangelists to politicians to businesspeople to young children plus run programs such as Love Clinic with Dr. Love, Ejo Aringa Dri with John Ayile or sometimes Saviour, Okuza at 4pm on Fridays, Music Hits, Sunday Halfhour Gospel with Pastor Norman Acidribo, etc. Its 60 meter mast extends radio signals to Masindi, Hoima, Lira and parts of DRC plus South Sudan. To donate to Voice Of Life (VOL) in Arua, call Nola via +256-772-526508; GOD reward you back for supporting HIS servants...

Lugbara Origins in Nigeria

Where do the Lugbara (pronounced Lubara, the letter G is silent) come from? Is it Rajaf in Juba (South Sudan) or Baar in Bari? According to Madi oral tradition, the Madi came from Nigeria. The Madi who have their own chiefdom (Ndri in Okollo) are closely related to the Lugbara and actually share numbers plus names in the Moru-Madi family. The Lugbara are a group that was said to have broken off from the Madi while a woman looked for her missing lugba harvest; the Madi called them Lugbani just like Lugbara call Baganda A'bua(ni). Before colonialism, many people travelled on the Sudan Road from the Niger Basin to the Nile Valley and across to Saudi Arabia. Some stayed while others went back. It's possible that the Niger River was connected to the Nile during ancient times but the tributary dried up. The Lugbara language has the same words as Igbo (pronounced Ibo) in Southern Nigeria (who are also connected to Haitians through slave trade) though different meanings. Lugbara is furthermore a tonal language like Yoruba. The Lugbara also share many surnames with West Africans eg in Nigeria (Bayo, Bako, Obi, Aribo, Ini, Atiku); Ghana (Dramani, Ayiko); Mali (Sina), etc. There is a huge rock south of Ojapi Parish (Old Tara, now Ajira Subcounty) that is similar to a special rock in the centre of Nigeria. Maybe our ancestors settled in this West Nile region because of the environment; Lugbaraland forms a circle around three major mountains (Liru in Koboko, Wati in Terego and Luku in Ayivu). Myths tell stories of a Lugbara ancestor (Dribidu) originating from East of the Nile but the languages there are totally different. Other myths tell of Jaki from a Kakwa mountain. Some clans even trace their origins to Ethiopia. Blacks are descendants of Noah's son Ham, right? That's why we are called Nilo-Hamites. The stories nevertheless point to an origin outside the Arua area which in modern times is very central for the House of Lugbara (Kari) because of its strategic location smack in the middle of East, North, South and Central Africa. The Lugbara in northwestern UG settled in Arua (Ayivu Clan), Maracha, Terego, Yumbe (Aringa Clan), Vurra, Madi-Okollo and Koboko. Meanwhile, the Madi occupy Moyo plus Adjumani east of the Albert Nile next to them; Alur (Luo) are in the south plus other Lugbara clans in DRC (westwards). It's funny how West Nile is almost shaped like Nigeria the way Uganda looks like South America, heehee...

Lip It (Book)

When I finally accepted JESUS as my Saviour at the end of 1997, I made a personal vow of silence so that I could study the entire Bible which I finished in 1999; there was a lot I didn't know and still don't. Ignorance is not bliss, it's darkness! Today, people still complain that am quiet but I have a right to remain silent plus learning never ends. I only speak when I really have to. Nevertheless, I took a timeout to share my views plus lessons from this temporary life (I'll probably be gone by 2100; bye bye!):

GOD is the Alpha and Omega...

GOD provides...

Everything you need is around you; unblind your eyes...

Dreamsurfing (Excerpts from 2020 Book)

Dreamsurfing is the exploration of dreams and visions. It's a journey through the Subconscious Mind, tour of Inner Space as oneironauts (dream astronauts) or trek in Dreamland and involves recording eg on paper, electronics, etc. Dreamvisions travel faster than sound and light. Dreams are like Source Code! They can program waking reality. The word dream translated to my mother tongue Lugbara is "orobi", "biloto" in Luganda and "traum" in German. Do not ignore your orobi; find a way to catch them! They provide free wisdom, advice, ideas, solutions, shortcuts, prophecy and alternative art or entertainment... Wikipedia defines a dream as a succession of images, ideas, emotions and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep.

Lucid dreaming is when you know that you are dreaming. I had a vivid blue and white lucid dream on Monday 4th October 2004 in Bugujju Suburb (Mukono) that advised me: If you have a problem, then just look up (oneway) to the sky (or Heaven). When I got up from the dream, I quickly sketched what I saw and the perfect measurements stunned my senses, felt like a personal Heaven: JESUS is the oneway to Heaven!

One dreamvision that ignites the Fear of GOD in my heart is the Arua Hill Stadium. I've never seen MUNGU nor YESU, but I would rather worship the GOD of the Hebrew Bible than other gods. African Chemistry is very potent but it is simply witchcraft masked as culture when it involves blood sacrifices to appease ancestors and other territorial spirits; the blood of JESUS is more than enough for me. Who in his or her right mind would have believed me during my 1st Year at Mukono Campus (2003-4) if I said that I had dreamt of a stadium located northwest of Arua Hill? It would become reality after 20 years, that is around 2023-4. To avoid being labelled a crazy Mulugwala, I kept quiet though wrote the idea in my journal because I had asked GOD to show me the future while a fresher: I saw a lot of things. Construction began in 2019 and finishing is expected anytime.

On Tuesday 12th February 2010, I saw a very heavy dreamvision of Idi Amin's architectural plans; immediately I woke up, I drew most of what I saw and titled it "1970s Arua" (like Retrofuturistic art). When I opened Facebook at sunrise, the very first photos I saw were the sepia-tinted architectural drawings of the three-storeyed KKT Plaza about to be built on Duka Road, posted by Amin's son (Ssalongo Jaffar Remo Amin). I told him about my dreamvision and he informed me that the original plan was a six-storeyed building. Some designs in my dream looked stunning including the Idi Amin Hotel, shaped like the Doha Tower in Qatar and located behind Office of the Prime Minister, just after the Arua Hill Roundabout. The tallest building in Arua was the "Secretary House" on Hospital Road but I did not count the floors clearly. I also saw four-storeyed apartments called "Angela's Lounge" that can be represented by either Arua Hospital or Desert Breeze Hotel. Whoa, this is amazing! Even if Amin was ousted before he could fulfill his plans in the 80s or 90s, his legacy remains.

I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in MY name. They say, "I had a dream! I had a dream! How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? They think the dreams they tell one another will make MY people forget MY name, just as their ancestors forgot MY name through Baal worship. Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has MY Word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD (Jeremiah 23:25-28)...

In the last days, GOD will pour out HIS Spirit on young and old, sons and daughters so that they prophesy (Joel 2:28-30 and Acts 2:17-18)... The Church can have more than one prophet because GOD appoints them (1st Corinthians 12:28)... Prophesying is not a sign for unbelievers but those who believe (1st Corinthians 14:22)... Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets (1st Corinthians 14:29-32)... Listen to my words: When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal MYSELF to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams (Numbers 12:6). You are your own personal prophet...

Talk to us in our dreams, LORD!

Worship GOD! For the testimony of JESUS is the Spirit of Prophecy (Revelation 19:10).

Coach Smith

THE ENTERTAININGLY active Will Smith (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Men In Black, Enemy of the State, Independence Day, etc) has always been my Favourite Black Actor on Earth since the 90s (reinforced by the fact that I also consider Joel Okuyo Atiku aka Prynce as my Best from UG); both lads are quite tall, fun-loving and athletic.
In May 2021, I saw a dreamvision that told me that if Will Smith is to win an Oscar after missing out with Ali (2001) and The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) which he considered worthy though Idi Amin (read Forest Whitaker) won it, he might have to do a sports-related film perhaps where he trains high schoolers in South Africa or some other place. The green and yellow jacket he wore in my dream had the word "Basketball" emblazoned across his chest; I did not even know what Will was working on post-Gemini Man (a 2019 revolutionary film production). Some months later however, after watching King Richard abruptly courtesy of Vision Group's Urban TV, my first impression was: This is the performance I was anticipating! I knew about the Williams Sisters from sports documentaries, so it was very easy connecting dots even though I missed the opening scenes of their Hollywood biopic. Someone actually advised their father to teach them basketball (and turn them into the "next two" versions of Michael Jordan), but he had his own masterplan. Although Venus stood out in this film, Serena is my genius, love her more than any other Black tennis star; she's humble yet very strong. At the turn of the new year, I thought Elvis Mbonye would prophesy Will as the Best Actor in the 2022 Oscars but heard nothing. Patiently, I waited for BAFTAs instead and the results gave me a lot of hope. Then the unexpected slap happened; whether stageplanned or spontaneous, not everyone hates Chris; Mr. Rock is one of the Funniest Comedians in my Top 100 List. Hard luck to the shortman! While giving his acceptance speech, Will apologized for the violence, "Denzel said to me a few moments ago, he said: At your Highest Moment, be careful; that's when the Devil comes for you..." Meanwhile, my Number 1 Will Smith movie is still "I, Robot (2004)".
Will has fought against hood bullies, aliens, cowboys, animals, boxers and robots; he has been a fresh prince, government agent, lawyer, fighter-jet pilot, astronaut, cop, tech entrepreneur, flying superhero, caddy, boxer, homeless businessman, genie, dating coach, tennis coach, assassin, supervillain, badboy and cartoonfish fittingly named Oscar. Now he is an Academy of Motion Arts legend; it's like a lifetime achievement for the 53 year old, but he still has more films to feature in.
